Skip Hire vs. Man & Van vs. Skip Bag - Which Is Best?
It depends on your needs:
Skip Hire: Best for heavy, messy waste (e.g., rubble, soil). Skips are spacious but costly, fixed in size, and require planning.
Man & Van: Cheaper, more flexible, and available on short notice—ideal for general bulky waste. Customers are often surprised by how easy and affordable it is compared to skips.
Skip Bags: Useful for small jobs requiring containment.
Our Recommendation: Go with man & van unless you’re dealing with lots of heavy waste.
Which Collection or Skip Size Should I Choose?
We can provide volume guides to help you pick the right service or size. Still unsure? Contact us using the button below and we’ll advise you.
With man & van, if the waste volume differs from your booking, our team will notify you before starting, adjust the price (with your approval), or cancel, whichever you prefer. Customers get the size right 99% of the time!
What’s a Cubic Yard and Why Use It?
A cubic yard is a traditional waste industry measurement: 1 yard (3 feet or 0.92 meters) high, wide, and deep—about the size of two washing machines or one fridge-freezer. Though the UK uses metric, cubic yards remain the industry standard for waste volume.
